The work on the plan to increase security in and around the Ram Janambhoomi complex in Ayodha has begun with invitation of bids by the Public Works Department.

The work was part of the Rs 54 crore scheme for enhancing security at Ram Janambhoomi, Kashi Vishwanath temple and Krishna Janambhoomi at Mathura.

Faizabad Commissioner and the authorised person for the complex Arun Kumar Sinha said on Sunday that tenders had been invited to undertake the work at the Ram Janambhoomi complex.

The job includes bullet proofing of the 13 watch towers, iron barricading around 'Sita rasoi' and 'Vishwamitra ashram', increasing the height of the fences and other works, he said.

The steps were being taken to prevent recurrence of terrorist attacks on the complex. Terrorists had managed to penetrate the complex on July five.

The funds for the job would be made available by March next year.
