A Bihar Military Police (BMP) personnel tonight shot himself dead at the battalion's base camp at Bodh Gaya, officials said.

Satish Kumar Bishwakarma, who was on duty at the BMP 3 battalion camp in Gaya shot himself on the chest and died immediately, city SP Daljit Singh said.

The reason why the personnel, a resident of Nawada district, committed suicide, was yet to be known.

An enquiry has been ordered into the incident.
