Kumar, the state's science and technology minister however, denied the charge saying it was an attempt to thwart a vigilance probe he ordered after finding financiaL irregularities in records of the college.

The clerk Soni Kumari filed a complaint in the court of chief judIcial magistrate here charging Kumar and other officials with 'being rude and misbehaving' with her during inspection of S N Sinha College at Tekari in Gaya district.

The minister along with district officials like sub-divisional magistrate H N Dubey made the surprise inspection of the college on June 5.

When contacted, Kumar said a committee led by him during inspection of the college records found 'glaring irregularities' in finances and has recommended a probe into it by the state vigilance bureau.

He said, "A deliberate attempt is being madE through the complaint to pre-empt the inquiry."

"A conspiracy seems to have been hatched to defame me. It is a sinister character assassination attempt and I will fight it legally by moving an appropriate court for dEfamation," he said.
