Some unidentified armed men fired at an auto-rickshaw driver on Monday afternoon, leaving him critically injured and triggering protests in the area.

The incident occurred near a private school in Sector 21B after auto driver Sunil Sharma of Fatehpur Chandila left his home for a nearby petrol pump.
When the victim reached near the school, the bike-borne men appeared suddenyl and the pillion rider fired at him. Sharma sustained injuries in his arm and the local people immediately rushed him to a government hospital, where he is recuperating.
Soon after the incident, police personnel rushed to the spot and policemen were also stationed at the hospital where the victim was admitted.Police officials investigating the case did not rule out the possibility of a personal enmity being the reason for Monday’s onslaught.
“All angles in the case are being investigated,” a police officer said, adding, “Those who committed this crime will be arrested very soon.” Meanwhile, the family members of Sharma and local residents of Fatehpur Chandila protested the incident.
