This is the first time when three private companies are getting together to invest Rs 1500 crore in Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) since its inception.

It is to be noted that the saffron brigade has been targeting the Samajwadi Party over slow pace of development in the region. Development became a potent tool to whip up anti-government sentiments, especially after the closure of the only fertilizer unit and over one dozen sugar mills in this region.

Tomorrow when the CM inaugurates the second bridge over Rapti river, the saffron brigade will stage a demonstration and dharna in protest at Indira crossing.

Launching his offensive against Samajwadi Party, former cabinet minister and senior BJP leader Shivpratap Shukla said the chief minister had no moral right to inaugurate the bridge as it was yet to be completed. He said the much hyped foundation stone of three big industries at GIDA and at Hata was only a political gimmick to consolidate the position of the SP. Shukla blamed Mulayam Singh for misleading the society and deceiving the youths.

Continuing his offensive, Shukla said the civic election result revealed that people wanted to dislodge the government. Predicting gloomy days for the State government, Shukla said Mulayam took over as the chief , he had promised to resolve the power crisis within three years. But he has failed to do anything so far and power blues continue to plague the State.

City unit president of BJP Ravi Prakash Srivastav appealed to the party activists to participate in the dharna at Chetna crossing.

He said people were dying due to starvation but the chief minister had categorically denied any starvation death in the State.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Diwaker Singh demanded compensation to the farmers whose land ahd been acquired at GIDA in Sahjanwa and demanded that acquisition of farmers’ land should be stopped.

Meanwhile, director of Gorakhpur District Cooperative Bank Ram Darash Vidyarthi strongly condemned the BJP and other forces opposing the visit of the chief minister. He said it would be the first big investment at GIDA by the corporate sector and would script a new chapter of industrial development in this region.

Party general secretary Krishna Kumar Tripathi and former zila panchayat member Paras Nath Yadav said around hundred welcome gates would be erected near GIDA to welcome the chief minister.
