The BJP, which is contesting six seats in Tamil Nadu, has not chosen any women candidates. However, it has fielded the party's national secretary, Lalitha Kumaramangalam, from Pondicherry.

The MDMK, PMK, CPI-M and the CPI, which had also promised 33 per cent reservation, have not fielded any women candidates.

Due to factional infighting, the Congress is yet to announce its full list of candidates.

Interestingly, women outnumber men in 35 of the 39 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state.

Of the 4,71,17,178 electorate, 2,39,18,206 are women.
