BJP flays govt decision to sanction additional liquor licenses

BJP's Puducherry unit has flayed the government`s decision to sanction 90 fresh licenses to private players to sell Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in Puducherry and Karaikal regions.

BJP's Puducherry unit has flayed the government`s decision to sanction 90 fresh licenses to private players to sell Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in Puducherry and Karaikal regions.

SPK Damodar, BJP unit President said in a release in Puducherry that the two regions were already dotted with a number of liquor shops,particulary near schools and religious institutions.

He said Puducherry was already witnessing occurence of heinous crimes and incidents of theft and robbery.Opening more number of liquor shops would lead to a further deterioration of law and order, he said and demanded that the government rescind the government notification

The CPI(M) here has already lambasted the government for permitting mushrooming of liquor shops.
