"...And those who have patronised corruption need to learn hard lessons. BJP is happy that the government has agreed to draft an effective Lokpal bill," BJP spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad told reporters here.

Prasad said the support for Anna Hazare's campaign demanding a Jan Lokpal Bill was an "indication of the agony of the people" who want action.

"This movement is an indication of the agony of the people of the country, their pain, their frustration. They want action," he said, adding, it points to the fact that people want relief from the "cancer of corruption."

Prasad also said some of the worst instances of corruption in India after independence have clear Tamil Nadu linkage, adding, "obviously" he meant 2G spectrum allocation scam in which DMK leader and former Telecom Minister A Raja has been named as an accused.
