Elated over the Assembly poll resultsin Maharashtra and Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir BJP on Sunday expressed hope that the saffron party would replicate its performance in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state too.
"People in Maharashtra and Haryana have dumped Congress which is another step towards the mission of 'Congress Mukt Bharat' as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Balbir Ram Rattan, state spokesman of BJP said here.
He said the clear mandate given to NDA during Lok Sabha elections and the victory in the two states was an indication that people of the country want to make India "Congress free".
"Congress will soon be a history in India. The defeat of Congress is yet another nail in its coffin, which has enjoyed power at Centre and in several states by indulging in misleading and false politics based on caste and creed," he said.
On Prime Minister Narendra Modi's participation in the campaigning of Assembly polls, he said that besides being the Prime Minister, Modi was also a BJP activist and he had every right to campaign for the party.
"Besides being Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi himself is a BJP activist and he has every right for campaigning for his party. There is nothing new in it as earlier also Prime Minister have gone out for campaigning in elections, this practice was also followed by Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Dr Manmohan Singh," he said.
