At the time of the incident, Kailash Suryavanshi (55), a resident of Lohari village, was sipping tea at a shop along the State Highway No 31.

Eyewitnesses said two bike-borne assailants fired multiple shots at Suryavanshi who died on the spot. The daredevil murder took place on Sunday.

As soon as Ratlam police received the information, superintendent of police GK Pathak, along with forensic science laboratory team, reached the spot and began investigations into the matter.

Pathak said after preliminary investigation, police have detained five persons for interrogation. But none has been arrested so far. Sources claimed that land dispute could be the reason behind Suryavanshi's murder.
