BJP's seat tally in Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls increased from 172 to 173 on Friday as the election authorities corrected Jabalpur (Central) constituency's result, which had earlier been declared in favour of the Congress.

Sarad Jain of the BJP is the winner from the constituency as he defeated his nearest Congress rival Naresh Saraf by 2354 votes, a state election office spokesman said in Bhopal.

The result had been declared wrongly in favour of the Congress nominee on Thursday.

With this, the number of seats won by the Congress has been reduced to 38.
