These appointments will coincide with rejig in party’s national team and, possibly, also the government. The process is expected to be over before the BJP’s national executive meeting on June 11 and 12. “The changes (in national team) have been finalised after an extensive discussion among stakeholders. Announcement is expected anytime after May 19,” a BJP functionary told HT.

There is a possibility of some union ministers returning to the party headquarters to take up organisational assignment. It will create space in the government that would be filled with new faces. Any reshuffle, if it happens, will be after the Modi government’s second anniversary on May 26.

The fate of at least two chief ministers also hangs in balance, sources said.
