They demanded that divisional commissioner should take initiative to take action against the district magistrate. Senior BJP leader Shital Pandey said that the name of district magistrate Hariom came to light during the CB- CID probe into the food grain scam in Ballia. The scam occurred during Dr Hariom’s tenure as Chief Development Officer (CDO) in Ballia.

Pandey said the probe report revealed that administrative officer was misusing his power and involved in corruption. Vishwa Hindu Mahasang leader Ramesh Singh Pahelwan and Hindu Yuva Vahini president Sunil Singh said that Dr Hariom had lost his moral right to continue as district magistrate. They said that the role of the district magistrate in recently concluded panchayat election was also suspicious.

Bank pension reforms
STATE BANK of India Staff Association national secretary PK Patnaik said pension scheme reforms would benefit 2.87 lakh bank employees. He added that the unity of association members during last month’s weeklong SBI strike compelled the government to accept their demands.

Patnaik, who played a key role in the strike, was speaking at the farewell function of the association’s national deputy general secretary Awadesh Pandey at the DDU Gorakhpur University convocation hall.

He said bank employees’ strike from April 3 to 9 had proved that no one could suppress the voice of the working class.
