BMC to display names of tax defaulters

THE BHOPAL Municipal Corporation administration has decided to put up the names of 25 big property tax defaulters of any ward in the respective ward offices. BMC Commissioner Manish Singh also suspended the in-charge of ward 34 for the carelessness in the revenue collection.

In order to speed up revenue collection, the BMC today directed the officials to initiate immediate efforts in this direction. The officials of BMC revenue section were directed to prepare a list of 200 big defaulters of every ward.

The BMC Commissioner held a meeting of revenue department officials, zonal officers and ward officials. These officials were told to carry out the attachment of properties in case the defaulters fail to pay the taxes on time. The BMC Commissioner also directed to carry out the assessment of new properties.

Singh also directed the officials to carry out a drive against the defaulters who are not depositing the rent of the BMC owned shops. He directed to cancel the allotment of occupants of such shops.

The Commissioner also ordered the suspension of in-charge of ward 34, Kishanlal, who did not take timely action in the lease cases of New Market shops. The ward in-charge was also not aware about the number of property tax defaulters in the ward.
