The Kerala government also hopes that the Dubai Internet City will open a similar facility in the port city of Kochi. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is in New Delhi to invite Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to lay the foundation stone for a much-delayed international container terminal that could change the face of the Kochi port.

Another project the central government is expected to clear is the LNG Plant at Kochi.

In the IT sector, there is good news. On Wednesday, Chandy assured Infosys chief NR Narayana Murthy in Bangalore that Infosys would be given 50 acres of land in Kerala by Nov 15.

Among the other IT majors expected to pick Kerala to set up centres is Wipro, which has asked for a 50-acre plot.
