The Congress leader had accused the Shiv Sena of engineering Ankush Rane’s disappearance. Relatives had identified the body to be that of Ankush’s, but there was no official confirmation that the deceased was the minister’s cousin, police sources said.

With Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray due to visit the area on Monday and four days left for polling, tension prevailed in the Sindhudurg-Ratnagiri constituency, where Rane’s elder son Nilesh is pitted against sitting Sena MP Suresh Prabhu. Additional forces have been deployed in the area.
