UK-based millionare Banta Sahota, in his seventies was a native of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.

The NRI had appointed Vikas Sahota, his brother's grandson, as his caretaker of his property.

The 24-year had lodged a complaint with the police on July 26 stating that Sahota had disappeared "mysteriously" on July 23.

However, police have detained Vikas on suspicion and booked him under section 364 IPC (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder).

Police believe that Vikas had hatched a plot to kidnap Sahota.
