Fortunately, the box found in a car in the parking lot contained a dummy circuit bomb made of red thermacol and wire.

“The box had a danger sign drawn on it,” said Vasant Tajne senior inspector of NM Joshi police station.

However, after examination the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad found nothing suspicious.

The police said that at around 10.45 am, a man driving a black car (MH-06-T-9808) entered the parking space of the mall.

Subsequently, while the two watchmen, Rupesh Darekar and Abdul Sheikh were conducting security check, they spotted the black box in the boot of the car.

“When they questioned the driver and the woman sitting in the car about the box, the duo told the watchmen that the box had been gifted to them.

“The two also said the watchmen could keep the box if he wanted,” said Tajne.

The police further said that when the watchmen asked the driver to go with them for further questioning, he drove away from the rear gate of the complex.
