New Delhi, Mar 8 (PTI) A book pertaining to the role of Women in building society was released here today on the occasion of the presentation of Indira Priyadarshini Awards, 2006 to mark the International Women's Day.
A book pertaining to the role of Women in building society was released here today on the occasion of the presentation of Indira Priyadarshini Awards, 2006 to mark the International Women's Day.

Written by Harsh Kumar, Executive Director (Finance), Railway Board, the book titled Beti was released during the National Conference on the "Role of Women in Building the Society" at the National Museum here, an official release said.
The conference was inaugurated by M V Rajashekharan, Member Planning Commission.
The book highlights the fact that Indian society suffered from a number of drawbacks at different times but the social reformers, however, managed to bring necessary changes in the society to eliminate them, which included the repression of women.
The book discusses a number of issues relating to women and girl child in a very simple and straight forward manner. It particularly draws the attention of the readers towards female foeticide, the release said.
