This New Year eve, pub bouncers in Gurgaon can't get rough with unruly and drunk revellers.

They will rather have to use "non-violent means" -- such as pepper sprays -- to stop them and if it doesn't work out, just call the cops.
Also, pubs, bars and restaurants serving liquor will have to wind up by 12.30 am for security reasons, police officials said. Bars in five-star hotels that have licences to serve liquor round the clock will be exempted from early closure.
These are some of the directives Gurgaon Police have issued to bar, discotheque ad restaurant owners to ensure trouble-free celebrations this year-end.
Gurgaon has about 105 liquor serving joints in the form of pubs, bars, discotheques and fine dining restaurants, including star category hotels. Most of these are on MG Road
"In a meeting with pubs, bars and restaurant authorities having licence to serve liquor, we have made it clear that they will have to stop serving liquor by 12.00 midnight and down their shutters by 12.30 am. We want revelers to enjoy in a safe atmosphere," said Jagdish Nagar, DCP (East).
"We have also instructed bouncers to exhibit maximum restraint when it comes to controlling unruly drunk guests," he said. The DCP (East) said even those having licences to serve liquor till 2.00 am would have to wind up by 12.30 am for security reasons.
Nagar said there had been instances of bouncers assaulting revellers. He said, "We have made it clear that they have no right to assault anyone. They should simply separate the fighting guests and call up the police to do the rest. They can use alternative but non-violent means to control the unruly and drunk revelers."
Pub authorities have already discovered alternative methods of controlling unruly guests. "We have given pepper sprays to bouncers. They will first try to control the unruly guests but if they get out of control, our bouncers will use pepper sprays to overpower them and call the police," Mohit Sharma, owner of Last Chance at Sahara Mall, MG Road.
