According to court sources, lawyer JK Mishra had complained that he was attacked by some neighbours, wherein he and his wife suffered serious injuries. The incident had occurred last week and an0 FIR was lodged with the Hazratganj police. The police had nabbed two assailants in this connection.

Mishra and his supporters were pressing the police to arrest the third assailant, Rajiv Yadav. Another lawyer, Gauri Shankar Mishra, former general secretary of the Lucknow Bar Association, moved a surrender application before the chief judicial magistrate, Dharam Raj Mishra here on Tuesday. He requested for an early hearing as he apprehended violence in the courtroom by Mishra and his supporters. The court accepted his request, took the accused in custody and sent him to jail.

This infuriated Mishra and his supporters who raised slogans against the magistrate and his staff. It is also reported that they had a tiff with the staff of the court. The news spread amongst other court employees who decided to lock court offices.

President of the Employees’ Association Javed Agha informed that the strike was only a token one and the district judge had assured them protection.
