Constable JJ Brahma of 74th battalion, a resident of Assam, was on duty when he shot himself dead with his service rifle at Poonchatra in Sopore area of Baramulla district late last night, a BSF spokesman said.
He said the motive behind the jawan taking such an extreme step was not known immediately.
