BSNL network goes phut for hours

This is the major mobile service failure as far as BSNL is concerned this year so far, claimed the sources.
Connectivity suddenly snapped around 9.30 am on Monday when mobile screen after dialling up several times started showing the messages "No network coverage" and "error in connection" etc. Harried subscribers after much difficulties when approached the BSNL officials they were informed that some technical snag has occurred.
When contacted the BSNL General Manager P K Srivastava told HT Allahabad Live that mobile service was hit in the wake of faults at two places in optical fibre cables. These faults in optical fibre cables--one between Fatehpur and Sirathu and the second between Orai and Kalpi--occurred probably because of damage to cables owing to heavy rain in the area which resulted in disruption in the entire mobile services in the district for nearly three hours. However, the repair work was carried out on a war-footing by the BSNL. Consequently the services were restored at 1.30 pm in entire area. However, sources alleged the service in other parts of the city was restored a little later.
