The miscreants slit 72-year-old Vishnu Lodh’s throat in the jungles of Saharsun when he was going to a village with his brother-in-law’s son Ashok for personal work. Ashok, who sustained injuries in the attack, fled to the village. He informed the villagers and the local police.

Police officials said Vishnu’s murder was the fallout of the killing of an armyman Chhatrapal Singh and his daughter-in-law during a dacoity in the same village.

Vishnu’s sons Malkhan Singh and Mahendra Singh had been arrested in that case. Vishnu’s family members have now blamed Chhtrapal’s relatives for Wednesday’s murder.
