"I don't know anything about it. There are so many movies, documentaries being made and shown on television and theatres. Who made this one, I don't know. They are going on and on needlessly showing the CD on television," Lalmani Prasad, BSP MP from Basti, told IANS.

The CD showing Lord Ram touching the feet of a Dalit mistaking him for a saint and then killing him after realising the truth has been circulated in parts of Uttar Pradesh and other states. The CD, claiming to be a version of Ramayana and labelled "Teesri Aazadi", depicts Ram as being anti-Dalit and is inflammatory in nature.

News channel CNN-IBN had shown clippings of the CD.

An organisation called B.R. Ambedkar Samaj Sudhar Samiti is said to be behind the CD.

Prasad confirmed that he was associated with this organisation but denied having anything to do with the CD.

This issue may come as an embarrassment to BSP president and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati who has been trying to implement her social engineering formula of bringing Dalits and Brahmins together to form an invincible electoral alliance.
