The presence of BSP candidates in almost all the constituencies in Maharashtra will not make any difference to the assembly poll results, NCP President and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar said on Wednesday.

Speaking to newspersons after casting vote at his hometown Baramati, Pawar said BSP had contested in almost all seats in the past four assembly polls, but has not met with much response.

"In the recent Lok Sabha polls, BSP did get response from the people, but the candidates who contested on BSP tickets were all Congress-NCP rebels. It (BSP) did not get much votes on its own", he added.

The BSP, which played spoilsport for the Congress in Vidarbha in the Lok Sabha polls, is contesting 272 seats - the highest ever for it - and has extended an emotional appeal of carving out a separate state of Vidarbha.

Pawar said his party has attempted to give chance to newer and younger faces besides women in ticket allotment.

"The process (of giving chance to younger lot) has begun in our party", he added.

He claimed that the combined strength of Congress-NCP led Democratic Front in the polls would cross the 160 mark in the 288-member House.
