Bus falls into gorge, 25 Amarnath pilgrims injured

Twenty-five Buddha Amarnath pilgrims were injured on Saturday when a bus carrying them skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge on Jammu-Poonch national highway, officials said.

Twenty-five Buddha Amarnath pilgrims were injured on Saturday when a bus carrying them skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge on Jammu-Poonch national highway, officials said.

A passenger bus carrying pilgrims to the Himalayan shrine of Buddha Amarnath in Poonch district skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge on the highway at Tanda, about 50-kms from here, they said.

In the mishap, some of the pilgrims were critically injured and have been admitted to the sub-district hospital in Akhnoor.

The minister for health Sham Lal Sharma visited the hospital along with Director Health Services Dr Madhu Khullar and enquired about the injured.

They directed the authorities to provide best medicare facility to the injured.
