Bus, truck collision kills 17 in Rajasthan

The crash occurred late on Sunday in the Rajsamand district, some 350 kms (220 miles) south of Jaipur.

A head-on crash between a truck and a passenger bus carrying pilgrims killed 17 people, including two children, in Rajasthan, police said on Monday.

Fourteen of the dead were women, a police officer said, adding that 26 passengers were injured with seven of them in a critical condition.

The crash occurred late on Sunday in the Rajsamand district, some 350 kms (220 miles) south of Jaipur.

The 75 passengers were on their way to Pushkar to take a dip in a sacred pond, the officer said.
