Bypoll notification to be issued tomorrow

The notification for by elections to three assembly constituencies vacated by Congress members elected to Lok Sabha from Kannur, Ernakulam and Alappuzha would be issued tomorrow, Chief Electoral Officer said here today.

Nomination papers will be received till October 21 for the polls to the assembly segments, all seats of the Opposition Congress. Scrutiny would be held on October 22. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is October 24, an official press release from the CEO Nalini Netto here said.

The assembly seats fell vacant after K Sudhakaran (Kannur), K V Thomas (Ernakulam) and K C Venugopal (Alappuzha) got elected to the Lok Sabha in the last polls.

Nominations would be received from the day of issuance of the notification from 11 AM til 3 pm, the release said.

A candidate would be allowed to submit a maximum of four sets of nominations, it said.
