Talking to media persons here on Wednesday, national president of the Manch Anil Jajodia said that it had been decided in a meeting of the national executive body of the Manch in Guwahati recently. He added the meeting was organised with an objective to chalk out a planning for activities of the manch in 2006-07.
“During the meeting, national executive members of the manch expressed grave concern over the declining ratio between males and females across the country and decided to launch a nationwide massive campaign against female foeticide,” he said.
Jajodia said about 450 branches of the manch were working in different states and all the branches would initiate a public awareness campaign ‘Jago Ma Jago’ across the country.
He added prevailing social ills were the main reason behind the increasing incidents of female foeticides. He said prior to the public awareness campaign, a meeting of medical experts and ladies would be organised in the concerned areas.
He added the manch had fixed a target of 10 lakh women across the country to get their commitment on paper to desist themselves from incidence of female foeticides.
