Captain Lambhate awarded VSM

CAPTAIN ABHAY Lambhate an Indian Naval officer and chief PRO with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) by the President of India after the Republic Day parade at New Delhi.

Captain Lambhate an alumni of Bal Vinay Mandir and Gujarati Science College was commissioned in the Indian Navy in 1978 and has rendered distinguished service in various command, staff and operational appointments.

Lambhate has to his credit the commissioning of KAMOV-28 flight for INS Ranvijay at Russia, commandeered the Coastguard ship INS ‘Avviyar’ during Operation Pawan and has been flight commander INS Ranvir, Ranjit and Rana.

He served as Deputy Director air staff at Naval headquarters and as Command Aviation Officer at Western Naval command, Mumbai. He was also a member of the core team responsible for conversion of aircraft carrier Vikrant into a museum.
