The Common Admission Test (CAT) papers were allegedly leaked from the Institute of Banking Personnel Services (IBPS), a semi-government body that handles the printing of question papers of the crucial exams for the IIMs, Director of the Ahmedabad campus of the Institute, Prof Bakul Dholakia said on Sunday.

CBI had said that it was from IBPS that the CAT exam papers were allegedly leaked, Dholakia told PTI adding that CBI had said that the papers were leaked after the accused persons connived with an official of the press.

He said CBI also revealed that exam papers related to Banking Services were also leaked from the same press earlier but went relatively unnoticed.

Dholakia said he would discuss the issue in depth with the Chairman of the Admissions Committee, Professor Vijay Siri Chand, who is expected to arrive in the city on Sunday night.

Dholakai had earlier in the day said that "officially cancelling the crucial CAT exams, involving 1.3 lakh students would be done only after the CBI gives a written statement regarding precise details of the expose of the exam paper leakage".

Replying to a question if the IIM-A had 'delayed' in responding after hearing about the leak, Dholakia said that, "what action would I have taken? Such reports of paper leaks have to be verified first".
