CBI seeks prosecution of 8 former Union Ministers

The government was yet to take a decision regarding former Health Minister CP Thakur.

The CBI has sought sanction for prosecution against eight former Union Ministers including former Railway Minister CK Jaffer Sharief.

The investigation agency has sought permission from government to file cases under Prevention of Corruption Law against these ministers in 27 cases, Minister of State for Home Manikrao Hodlya Gavit said while replying to a written question in the Lok Sabha.

He said the government has given sanction in case of former ministers-- Sukh Ram, Sheila Kaul, Madhav Singh Solanki, Rasheed Masood, PK Thungan while denied the permission for prosecution in the case for Captain Satish Sharma and CK Jaffer Sharief.

The government was yet to take a decision regarding former Health Minister CP Thakur, Gavit said.

While Sukh Ram and Kaul are facing prosecution in two cases each, there are as many as 15 cases against Sharma, according to CBI, the minister added.
