CBI wants court to summon doctor treating former Satyam chief

The CBI today requested a special court hearing the Satyam scam to summon the doctor treating B Ramalinga Raju at Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) to explain to it about his medical condition.

The CBI Thursday requested a special court hearing the Satyam scam to summon the doctor treating B Ramalinga Raju at Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) to explain to it about his medical condition.

Raju, prime accused in the Satyam Computers multi-crore accounting scam, has been avoiding court proceedings since September last citing health reasons.

CBI counsel argued that Dr Ajit Kumar, who is treating Raju for Hepatitis-C, should come and explain to the court about Raju's medical condition.

"It will be easier for the court to decide our petition requesting permission for video linkage to examine Raju if the doctor personally appears in the court," the CBI counsel submitted.

The NIMS, which submitted a fresh report on Raju’s health, said "All the tests including virus count test will be conducted on Raju on July 10 and reports will be available on July 17. After that we will decide the course of action to be taken."

The court adjourned the hearing in the case till Friday.
