CCIM team takes stock of Ayurveda College facilities

A TWO-MEMBER delegation of the Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM), New Delhi visited the Ayurveda College of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University and took stock infrastructure facilities here on Saturday. The delegation comprised secretary of CCIM Dr PR Sharma and another member Dr Suresh Chandra Gupta.

A TWO-MEMBER delegation of the Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM), New Delhi visited the Ayurveda College of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University and took stock infrastructure facilities here on Saturday. The delegation inspected the 110-bedded hospital, SN Shashtri Boys Hostel, Girls Hostel and the college. Principal of Ayurveda Collge Prof Jai Ram Yadav accompanied the delegation. Later, the group met the faculty members and staff of the college to discuss various problems. A large number of students of Ayurveda College also interacted with the CCIM delegation and handed over a charter of their demands. The students said due to lack of adequate infrastructure facilities, condition of the 110-bedded Ayurveda Hospital was in a shambles and often had no patients.

Students further said classes were being conducted under rooms with a tin shade and that there was insufficient number of teachers in various departments. Students also complained that for 250 male and female students, there was hostel facility available for only 150 students. Besides, they said, the out patients ward building was also in a shambles and no practical work was carried out due to lack of resources. Secretary Dr PR Sharma refused to issue any statement regarding the visit. Some patients were seen in the Ayurveda Hospital and the college administration made all efforts to present a positive picture of the college and hospital before the visiting CCIM delegates.
