Social activist Anna Hazare on Wednesday accused the Centre of trying to break the unity of his team by giving a misleading picture of his secret meeting with Union law minister Salman Khurshid for the lokpal bill.

“I maintained secrecy about the meeting (on June 23) in the larger interest of the society and nation. What is the harm if I took two steps back for a strong lokpal?” Hazare asked.

In Delhi, Khurshid said, “Nobody is breaking Team Anna. You (media) should also not do it.”

Talking to mediapersons at his village, Ralegan Siddhi, Hazare said he was shocked that minister of state in the Prime Minister’s Office, V Narayanasamy, had claimed that he was helping the government evolve a consensus on lokpal. He said he had not “extended any help to the government.”

Hazare said he would go ahead with his fast for a strong lokpal from July 25 at Jantar Mantar and also participate in the August 9 agitation at Ramlila ground with Baba Ramdev.
