The accused, Dharmendra Dubey, 25, a native of Narsinghpur, had allegedly lifted scooter from New Market and changed number plate before committing robberies. After the robberies, he would abandon the vehicle.

The police arrested him when he came to sell the robbed chains at a jewellery shop and was caught on the basis of an informer’s tip-off.

On February 11, he had allegedly snatched the chain of one Renu Gupta. On January 21, Manjulata Gupta was robbed. The accused had a fake number plate with him, which he fitted on the existing number plate while committing the crime.

Dharmendra was also a co-accused in an incident at Gandhi Market in Piplani where two gold chains were taken away last year. His accomplices, Mahendra and Dhirendra were arrested but he was absconding. The police are interrogating Dharmendra.
