Chaos at LML factory over removal of 12 employees

As per the schedule, about 2,500 employees gathered at the LML extension counter of Indian Overseas Bank, Panki here on Monday. However, when they reached the factory, they got agitated after seeing a notice pasted at the factory gate informing about the termination of 12 employees and retirement of nine others.
Ironically, all the 12 terminated employees are actively involved in the newly constituted LML Limited Mazdoor Union, which has the support of maximum number of employees and is fighting for their cause.
The terminated staffers include union president Jai Prakash Pandey, general secretary Suresh Singh, Balbir Singh, Neelabh Dixit, Gorakh Nath Sharma, Jang Bahadur Singh, OP Shukla, Suresh, Hari Narayan, Ashok Kumar Tyagi, Navi Yaan Mai and Rakesh Yadav.
The agitated employees resorted to slogan-shouting and even forced the LML officials to flee the spot. When some LML officials tried to pacify them and intervene in the matter, they were also forced to beat a hasty retreat by the enraged employees. Situation became tense when senior leaders of the union including Pandey tried to hold talks with senior officials of LML but were not given entry into the factory premises by the police personnel deployed at the factory gates.
It may be pointed out that the Executive Director of LML RK Srivastav issued a notice on May 24 informing the employees to collect their payment of Rs 1200 on May 29 and 30 from the Indian Overseas Bank of the LML extension counter, Panki.
In a tripartite meeting Additional Labour Commissioner Chandri Manilal Maurya, the LML management and the employees’ union on May 25, it was decided that two labour inspectors would also be present at the time of payment in order to overlook the proceedings. However, all this chaos happened in front of these two labour officials.
