The sessions court last week framed the charges against five accused involved in the Adnan Patrawala murder case.
The accused — Sujit Nair, Rajeev Dharaiya, Amit Kaushal, Ayush Bhatt and Kimesh Ambavat — would be tried under Section 302 (murder), 363 (kidnapping), 364A (kidnapping for ransom), 387 (putting person in fear of death or of grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion) 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).
Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said: “On Tuesday I would be submitting the programme of evidence to the court.”
On August 19, 2007, Patrawala (16) was allegedly kidnapped and killed. On August 18, 2007, Patrawala had taken his businessman father’s Skoda and left for an undisclosed location after receiving a call from a friend.
His father later received a call demanding a ransom of Rs 2 crore. On August 19, Adnan’s body was found abandoned in his car on Palm Beach Road.
Bhatt had filed an application in the court saying that he cannot be tried in the regular court, as he was 17 when the murder took place and his trial should be separated.
However, the court had held that Bhatt was not a minor after the prosecution examined a medical nurse and teachers from Bhatt’s school in Gondia.
