"Chintz is the focal point of my collection. I have been working on this technique for a long time and finally I succeeded in getting this floral poetry on my fabric," Parashar told IANS at a preview here Wednesday.

She will showcase the collection, Modern Indian Princess, which salutes the young and flamboyant woman who is not afraid of experimenting, at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) from Oct 15-19.

"The look is very bohemian and retro and is meant for women who have confidence and attitude to carry any outfit with aplomb," Parashar said.

The line has hot pants, super mini skirts, cocktail dresses and kaftans. Hues of indigo and envy green dominate the colour palette.

She has focused on three types of printing - digital, block and screen. Keeping Indian weather conditions in mind, she has used fabrics like silk, chiffon, georgette and cotton.

"This is the first time in Indian textile that you can get out the most incredible intricate print which is more like a work of art in digital format," she said.

Parashar launched her label "Charu Parashar" in 1993 and she specialises in haute couture and prêt lines using Indian textile and printing techniques along with old embellishment techniques.

Her signature style is using Indian traditional designs with an international appeal.
