Complying with the Election Commission's directive, the Tamil Nadu Government today posted Dr N Rajaram, Director of Rural Development, as the Chennai Collector, replacing V Kannuchamy.

The Commission on April 17 had ordered the transfer of Kannuchamy after finding "something amiss" following an inquiry, but declined to specify the allegations against him.

An official release here said the Secretary to the Rural Development Department had been asked to make suitable arrangement for an incharge for the post of Director until further orders.

It also said orders on posting of Kannuchamy and successor to Rajaram, would be issued separately.
