Chidambaram arrives in Tawang

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram arrived at Tawang on Saturday to review the law and order situation there, official sources said.

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram arrived at Tawang on Saturday to review the law and order situation there, official sources said.

Chidambaram accompanied by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu arrrived at the Buddhist town of Tawang from Itanagar.

"He would also visit the famous Tawang Monastery," the sources said.

"Chidambaram would return to Itanagar and would then visit Khonsa, the headquarters of Tirap district bordering Myanmar to review the law and order situation before leaving for Kolkata," the sources added.

Tirap and Changlang districts of Arunachal Pradesh adjoining Nagaland have been under the Armed Forces Special Power Act because of activities of militants from neighbouring states.
