Though, the doctors are far from unanimous as far as the disease is concerned however, most of them have been treating the patients assuming that the same as ‘chikungunya’. They have started denoting this disease by writing CKG on the prescriptions. However, instead of finding out the remedies, several doctors at the government hospitals have virtually turned their back and are not ready to accept that the disease is spreading tentacles in the city.
On the other hand, several patients with symptoms as found in chikungunya are making a beeline at both the government as well as private hospitals. As several pathology reports stated negative, the doctors were left with no other option but to treat the patient on the basis of symptoms.
On the other hand, Dr Arti Lal Chandani of the Hallet Hospital confirmed that till date about 50 patients had been found suffering from chikungunya. Dr Chandani also admitted the fact that patients coming to the Hallet Hospital with symptoms of this disease also included medicos.
Dr RP Singh of the pediatric department said that there had been increase of at least 1.5 times in the patients coming to the department as compared to normal days. According to reports about 8 patients with similar symptoms as chikungunya have been admitted under Dr RP Singh.
Similarly, Dr DC Shukla, a private practitioner of Shyamnagar locality, said that in the current season viral patients had outnumbered other patients. Kaushal (26), Soumya (18), Satyam Dwivedi (14), Eisha Gupta (19) have been admitted with similar symptoms as in chikungunya.
Dr Pradeep Sehgal of the Regency Hospital said that of the patients coming to the hospital, 80 per cent had symptoms of chikungunya. Similarly, Dr RK Kakkad has claimed to be treating about a dozen patients under his supervision.
However, to avoid any confusion, doctors were of the view that chikungunya kit should be brought to the city to remove doubts among the experts.
