Civic issues highlighted

LOK JANSHAKTI Party members handed over a 16-point memorandum to additional district magistrate (City) RP Singh.

The memorandum drew the district administration’s attention to various issues concerning the general public.

The members, led by district president Haji Shafiq-ur-Rehman, requested the ADM (City) to take immediate action on problems mentioned in the memorandum.
Shafiq-ur-Rehman said a divider should be constructed on the Kanpur Road from Pani-Ki-Tanki near the High Court to Chaufatka, to regularise traffic and avoid accidents. Adequate lighting facilities should also be made on this road. A new road needed to be constructed from Akbarpur wood wholesale market to the Akbarpur graveyard. The roads from Nakhas Kohna to Kotwali and Gantaghar to Sabzi Mandi, Nakhas Kohna crossing also needed to be repaired.

“A transformer is dangerously touching the building of a school on the Mirza Ghalib Road and Shaukat Ali Road. These transformers should be immediately shifted for the safety of schoolchildren,” he said.

Rehman said there were many irregularities in the Kanya Vidya Dhan, midday meal and free book distribution schemes in rural areas. The inquiry should be conducted into the complaint and guilty officers should be punished. The State Education Institutes should be asked to distribute free Urdu books. “Even the old bridge on the Yamuna should be repaired, with proper lighting facility. Electricity wires were passing dangerously near the Flower Mandi to Jehangir Hospital Arail. The wire should be removed for the safety of residents,” he said

ADM (City) assured the members their demands would be considered. Also present on the occasion were district general secretary Gulam Kadir, Sushil Kumar Yadav, Sunil Kumar Verma and Sanjay Gupta.
