CII pledges Rs 3 crore aid to J&K

The Confederation of Indian Industry has pledged an aid of rupees three crore for relief and rehabilitation of earthquake affected people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In addition to the pledges, the members of the CII have contributed support in kind as well including 1770 blankets, 500 tents and 1000 more blankets have been ordered which would be despatched to the affected areas shortly, a CII release said in Srinagar on Saturday.
Infosys, Bajaj Auto, ITC, Ashok Leyland, SRF, DCM Shriram, Fortis Healthcare, Indfos Industries, Associated Soapstone Distribution, Coca Cola, Radisson Hotel and Safexpress have made the pledges, it said.
To coordinate and carry out the relief work on the ground, CII has set up a task force which would work closely with the state government, the army, industry and NGOs, the release said .
The CII was associating with following industry bodies - Kashmir chamber of commerce and industries, federation chamber of industries, Kashmir flour mills association and Bari Brahmna industries associaation, Jammu to carry out the relief work.
In addition, the CII was working with its Baramulla-based partner NGO - Human aid society - which has a team of volunteers to support the relief efforts on the ground.
As with CII's relief efforts elsewhere, the relief work was going to be not only one of providing immediate relief but will be long term and rehabilitative in nature, the statement added.
