Only those having platform tickets will be allowed to check in. This measure will be a part of the efforts to ensure security of the rail passengers and the railway property.
Under the remodelling plan of the entrance (concourse in railways term), the open area of the concourse on city side of the railway station will be enclosed with glass doors.
At the entry gate, a guard will be deployed to check the tickets of the rail passengers and the visitors. And those having tickets will only be allowed to move inside, said a highly placed officer associated with the work.
The officer claimed that with this measure the railway officials will be able to help check the entry of miscreants at the railway platforms.
Apart from this, the booking counters will also be shifted to the wall opposite and they will face outward.
Besides a part of an effort to step up security of the train passengers, the measure will also help provide better facilities to them.
Efforts will also be made to improve the seating arrangement which will be of great help to those passengers who have to wait in the concourse for a long time for the train to arrive.
Besides Allahabad Junction station, the work will be undertaken at Kanpur, Mirzapur, Etawah and Aligarh stations too as these stations are considered the main stations under the Allahabad division.
Apart from Allahabad division, the work will also be undertaken at the main stations falling under Agra and Jhansi divisions.
Reportedly, a budget of Rs 30 lakh has been sanctioned for the work in Allahabad. "The work will probably start next month and likely to be completed by the end of this financial year", said the officer.
