The water sports complex being built near the new Yamuna bridge, is the result of the initiative undertaken by the Tourism Department.
The project being managed by UP State Tourism Development Corporation is expected to be inaugurated within a fortnight by State Tourism Minister Kokab Hameed.
According to regional tourist officer RK Yadav, the place will gain popularity as it will give the essence of nearness to nature.
"It will be quite an experience for the people to enjoy fast food and Indian delicacies while viewing the tranquil waters of Yamuna," said Yadav.
The rupee-one crore complex will be equipped with a dining hall, kitchen, toilet facility and changing rooms. There is one dormitory for those unable to afford the room accommodation which are four in number. A big hall could well be used to hold discourses during Ardh Kumbh, added Yadav.
"Most of the water sports will be available for both adults and children.
Boating, kayaking and canoeing along with the facility of paddle boats will be an added attraction. Children will get an opportunity to receive training in kayaking and canoeing from the experts," said Yadav.
It is to be noted that earlier an attempt was made to set up the water sports complex at Saraswati Ghat but the army authorities' objection halted the work midway.
"The project has been planned for all the people irrespective of their status as the eatable items available in restaurants and other charges have been kept minimal so that all could enjoy," he added.
"We feel that the spot will act as an important picinic spot in times to come," said the regional tourist officer.
