Clear power struggle in BJP, says SP

Struggle for succession is obvious the way Advani and Joshi are making contradictory statements, party said.

Taking a dig at the BJP over the issue of successor to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Samajwadi Party candidate from the Allahabad Lok Sabha seat Reoti Raman Singh said on Monday that such talks were a clear indication of a power struggle within the saffron party.

"There is a clear power struggle going on in the BJP on the issue of prime ministership, with senior leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi making contradictory statements on the possible successor to Vajpayee," Singh told reporters here.

Singh said such talks were unfortunate, "especially when Vajpayee is firmly in the saddle."

Talks about the successor to Vajpayee gained momentum when he hinted at it during a rally in Lucknow. Joshi's comments of the issue recently set the rumour mills going. PTI KDK SKU
