At least 31 women labourers were feared killed in the mishap which took place in Wainganga river at Khamari village in Bhandara district on Saturday.
A compensation of Rs one lakh would be paid to the kin of the deceased and Rs 10,000 to the injured, Chavan said in an official statement in Mumbai. The Chief Minister expressed grief over the unfortunate incident and said he had asked Chief Secretary Johny Joseph to monitor relief and rehabilitation of the victims of the accident.
