He inaugurated 26 development projects investing around Rs 50 crore. He said from the next financial year paucity of funds will not hinder development in the region and the government was determined to open the floodgates of funds in eastern UP for all-round development of the region.
Pleased with the large gathering, the chief minister highlighted the pro-people decisions taken by the government and called upon party workers to go to the people and convince them about the government policies as next Assembly elections were round the corner.
The chief minister said a decisive battle against communal and saffron forces would be fought in the land of Ganga and Yamuna and hence the party must strengthen its position in this region. Terming unemployment as the greatest challenge before the nation, he said the State government was determined to provide employment to 2.50 lakh youths and recruitment had already begun in various departments.
Hitting hard against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he said the State government had sent a proposal to the Union government to allocated budget for allowances to unemployed graduates but the Union government disappointed him. He said earlier he was of the view that Manmohan Singh was a learned person who cared for youths but the rejection of the proposal for unemployed allowance had change his views regarding the prime minister.
Referring to the resignation of Congress president Sonia Gandhi from the National Advisory Committee and Lok Sabha membership, he said the Congress president was posing to be an idol of sacrifices but the reality was far from it. If she had not resigned on her own, her membership from Lok Sabha would have been cancelled like Jaya Bachchan.
Making a strong attack on the Union government, he said Congress party was trying to destabilise the SP-led State government and a raid had been conducted on industrialists to harass them so that they do not invest in UP.
He accepted the challenge of the Congress party and claimed that his party had fulfilled the promises made to the people before the election. He promised that the cement bridge connecting Semra Ghat to Madanpur town of Deoria district would be completed within one year.
